Emma Scarborough

BA(Hons), PostGrad Cert Ed,BTEC ND Horticulture & Garden Design (Dist).

Emma is a fully qualified and experienced Garden Designer, Horticulturalist and Lecturer.

In 2000 she established her garden design practice, Emma Scarborough Garden Design.

Since setting up the practice Emma has designed over 80 classic and contemporary gardens and planting schemes for private clients ranging from large country gardens through to intimate, stylish courtyards.

Emma is passionate about design excellence and has meticulous attention to detail. Her work is inspired by her love of natural materials and landscapes. She creatively combines textures, shape and colour to produce gardens that have a strong sense of style and which delight the senses.

In addition to running her own practice she has been Course Tutor and Senior Lecturer in Garden & Planting Design at the leading land-based college in the East Midlands. Since 2002 she has inspired many students with her infectious enthusiasm, passion and extensive knowledge of plants and design, many of whom have gone on to establish their own design practices. Emma has taught on Foundation degree, BTEC & RHS programmes. She has mentored many students over the years to achieve RHS medals for their gardens including 3 RHS Gold Medals, 1 RHS Silver Gilt & a RHS Silver medal.

Emma also works with the charity, Love Support Unite where she is helping to teach young girls at an orphanage in Malawi to grow their own nutritious food. She flew out in October 2015 to help plan and build a new permaculture garden at the orphanage and a community school.
