Cottage garden, Market Harborough

The brief for this old walled cottage garden was to create a space with multiple areas for entertaining and sitting.  The curvilinear design creates a garden that is overridingly fluid and informal with a strong sense of movement and flow.  The design uses Dutch clay pavers to deliver a curved patio reached by a pathway framed by a series of Douglas fir arches.  A small courtyard immediately outside the kitchen will be constructed using sandstone setts and resin bound gravel.  The planting is soft and billowing in predominantly silvers, mauves and blues with structural Pittosporum balls weaving their way throughout the scheme to provide a sense of rhythm and unity.
