Project Description

Shady Streamside Garden, Rutland

This shady awkward shaped garden was blessed with a beautiful stream running through its centre before disappearing under the house and making its way to the nearby Rutland Water.  The brief was to create a secluded, restful and intimate space where the owners could enjoy the early morning sun.  A small circular sandstone sett patio was constructed, edged with box hedging and the rest of the space was filled with woodland planting in a simple palette of green and white.  Large box and yew balls and cones served to provide structure and repetition across the scheme.

Build: Client’s own contractor.

Planting: Emma Scarborough Garden Design Ltd.
